Tyra Banks downs level 60 baby neglecter

What makes for greater sensationalist media? Wii Sports accidents or World of Warcraft addiction? In the case of Autumn and Shawn, the latter takes the cake with the addition of a child into the mix. Seeking help from model turned talk show host, Tyra Banks (and Dr. Garry from Breaking Bonaduce!), Autumn comes forth with video evidence of her fiance, Shawn, turning a blind eye to their crying baby all in the name of doing battle in Azeroth. While the situation is as serious as it gets, Tyra doesn't seem to help matters, practically insinuating that Shawn is having physical relations with his computer.
That is one demanding raid leader.
This isn't a one-sided attack, however, as Shawn comes on stage to confront his wife and Tyra about his addiction. What does he have to say for himself? You'll never guess as to what his excuse is in part two after the break.
Just remember folks, you don't actually need the game CDs to play once the game is installed. So while the shredding gesture is a noble one, that man is so going to raid tonight.

LOL, There is no way, after playing for 40 hours a week, that he is going to give up playing that game altogethar. I can't believe that they thought that single CD is the source of all evil, and that it can simply be destroied forever by a simple shred. When I gave up EverQuest in 01, I was nearly in tears. Now I just play games that have an "end".

Although I DO find it funny she says he's ignoring her for just a computer over a human being, he's not ignoring her for friends. In reality, he's ignoring her for friends as thats what WoW is, interaction with others.
Though I've only watched a few seconds of it so far, felt like saying that.

They realize that you can play the game without the disc, right? Oh, and I loved the WoW montage at the very beginning, I think I saw Jack Thompson's face foating around in there...
In all seriousness, I felt this little episode was just laced with ignorance, but what isn't involving video games? It seems like whenever video games are mentioned in the mass media it's almost always ignorant.
There are just so many tings I could say, but I suppose I won't. Although it makes me feel a little bad because I'm totally ignoring my gf in order to write this. Oops!
Also, just as one more sidenote:Does anyone else feel like this was staged? I don't know, it just didn't seem right to me. Show montage explaining husband's addiction with baby crying for three seconds, have the wife talk about how he plays for 40 hours a week, have husband come out and say it was an escape for him, trash CDs, everyone hugs, and that's the end. I mean if this was 100% real then I would have to say that's the weakest intervention ever, and he's probably back at home playing WoW right now.

Women don't just magically get fat after having a kid. I have plenty of female friends who have had children and don't look like that. Not that that excuses yet another WOW loser's behavior, but that point needs to be made. Sounds like neither parent has any self-control.

Wow...those comments saying that the guy's game playing wouldn't be so excessive "if she wasn't so fat" are horrible! The woman isn't obese or anything! She's heavy, yes, but nothing extreme, or even close. The woman just had his child! There's no GREATER reason for a man to become even more in love with his partner. I don't know how she could've stood by a jerk for so long! His addiction should've been confronted a lot earlier. Oh, another thing...maybe if daddy weren't sitting on his butt in front of the computer...MAYBE mom could get more of a chance to work off her pregnancy weight! *just a thought*
That's a sad, sad man if he's turned to a game out of *fear* of his daughter. That's outrageous! And I agree that things won't be done simply by shredding the game. I'm sure there was going to be a follow-up program to get him weaned off of the games. If there aren't, then they're going about it all wrong. While shredding the game is a symbolic way to mark the beginning of the end of his addiction, that won't be enough. He'll need counseling. Kudos to him...it's a step in the right direction.

i would be surprised if the guy had some kind of stress issues when he started playing. a friend of mine, his brother too is addicted to WoW.
i think he started playing have his parents split. he dropped out of school and everything like that. he has a job because his mo WILL NOT pay for the fees.
i think that if you start playing games like WoW when your under stress, it increases the chances that you'll get addicted.

As much as people being addicted to WOW irks me, the average 'gaming widow' pisses me off. I've had friends who have complained nonstop that their boyfriends are paying more attention to games than to them, and as much as theres a valid point in there about not playing TOO much, you can tell ( hence the CD shredding) that rather than asking someone to moderate themselves they would rather their significant others spend every waking minute doting on their every want and need- wether they have a child or not.
oh, and this reeked of scripted setup. playing WOW because he didnt want to get close to his child because he was scared of SIDS? hahaha.

Being in a comitted relationship of 6 years and having a 3-year-old son, I have an understanding of why guys need to feel a need for independence. It's a natural reaction to feeling trapped.
World of Warcraft was his escape. If it wasn't that, it might have been alcohol, drugs or other women. Yes, 40 hours a week is excessive. But isn't that preferable to him freaking out and running off? At least he's at home, and once it's out of his system, he's still there.
Video games, like anything else, can be a source of addiction and escapism. I just wish people would realize that it's not the games that do this to people... it's the people with problems who misuse the games.

Honestly, that's pretty fucking funny.
First off, the game is a gear based crawl. The strive to improve is minimal at best. Odds are. he likes his friends online more than his gorilla of a fiance.
Second, this 'I'm gonna leave you" crap is pissing me off. Would you be pissed, miss wifey, if your bf there was a top 100 lawyer, pulling 100 weeks? NO! Cause he'd be making enough money to shut your tubby ass up!
It's a cry for attention on both ends: She wants his, and he wants the internet's.
Tyra acts like: I KNOW THIS SUbJECT, PLZ GIVE ME MONEY. Video game addiction is just as bad as any drug. Yet, she treats him like a child, cause its considered entertainment.

Normally, I would pass up comments, but this really got to me. One, this has a multiplayer aspect, which means other people play this game. It's not just him and the computer, though she was right about it isn't real. Maybe he feels more comfortable interacting with other people with this avatar than he does with his daughter and wife face to face. Two, he didn't go home to play this game, as Tyra said, twisting what the wife said into something that would make the guy look bad. He went home to take a shower, then he played. There's actually a difference. Also, these talk shows are for women at home with nothing better to do than watch soap operas and talk shows (like this one). They cater to the stay-at-home mom stereotype, alway having the woman get what she needs/deserves. I like how they give so much time to pull the stay-at-home moms in the story, only giving enough information so as the women think they have al the information, but not enough to actually know what this is.
Though, if he REALLY is putting 40 hours into the game, he needs some help.

Daytime TV is garbage. Period. And here's little miss worthless Tyra Banks and while being trained by 10 guys, noticed a newspaper clipping on the WOW: Burning Crusade launch. Naturally, in the post effect of the kinds of people that would camp overnight for a game that has 8 million subscribers, even she's not stupid enough to ignore those numbers and the potential drama bullshit she can push to all those single mothers who use their 4 year olds as an excuse to not get a job.
Meanwhile, in comes this neglectful shit, singlehandedly making all the whiny bitches out there suddenly go "hmmmmm" about their man who, rather than watch The Notebook for the 50th fucking time, would rather play some SOCOM during his relaxation time. women like men have the same basic thoughts at first sight of the opposite sex. Looks are the governing factor at first glance. You don't walk down the street and say look at the morals on that guy. Never think that it is otherwise. As far as we know her body type has been this way since puberty and she just gained a bit of weight recently but not enough to change her overall appearance. But like most women due to the standards of beauty set by society and our genes, think that if they gain 5 pounds they are fat she has overreacted. We have no info from his perspective so we don't even know if her figure enters into it. If Miss bimbo supermodel ( who has no business telling anyone how to live their lives ) would actually give us both sides of the story we would know.
Addiction to a video game can be real but as with all addictions with determination they can be beat. if he is serious then he will quit playing.
Also i agree with whoever said it that no concessions were made on her part. why does it seem always up to the man to quit altogether something that he enjoys as opposed to cutting back. I do believe that you should do what you can to make the people you love happy but if they really care for you they will be willing to meet you half way.
